Andy Green
Andy’s radio career has seen him working in a number of towns and cities around the midlands and the south. As well as playing the songs Andy has done every radio job you can think of from flying round in the travel plane, dressing up as the station mascot, running the whole station… and making the tea. (It’s the final one in that list for which his colleagues feel he has been the most successful!)Before radio came calling Andy had a short stint as a sales person for a well known high street electrical retailer, although dropping a box of filter coffee machines down the stairs rather curtailed that. He also spent several years as a computer project manager for a local council where his piece de resistance was a project to allow the staff to order their sandwiches from the canteen at the click of a button!
Andy tries to keep fit by attempting various adventurous activities including caving, canoeing and mountaineering, many of which he undertakes as a volunteer working with the young people in the Scout movement. He’s also got a mountain bike but can only bring this out from the garage when the weather is nice enough. Fitness is, after all, a summer thing!
Here’s a few questions we asked Andy to get to know him a bit better:
First song bought: Music by John Miles (sort of sums up the direction I took in life)
Claim to fame: I chased Anneka Rice around Stratford-upon-Avon in the 80s when they were filming Treasurer Hunt there. I didn’t catch her.
Guilty pleasure: Sad but true - farmers markets! I can’t resist all the delicious things they sell and always spend too much money.
Thing for which you will be remembered: My tea making skills!
Andy loves working at the Breeze, playing the fantastic music, and most of all being part of all the great local events that are a huge part of life in our community.
